New Hampshire Section AWHONN: Goals 2010
Mission:
To promote excellence in nursing practice to improve the health of women and newborns in New Hampshire.
Goals:
1. Support National AWHONN standards/guidelines for practice
2. Inform RNs about issues important to the health of women and newborns
Supporting activities, utilizing local, regional, and national faculty:
- Fetal monitoring programs
- STABLE
- Post-anesthesia care for the Caesarean-delivered woman
- Other programs as identified
3. Grow and maintain AWHONN membership
Supporting activities:
- Offer student rates and encourage student participation in selected programs
- Monthly e-mails to membership from Membership Coordinator
- Web page updates every other month
- E-newsletter on web page
- Basic fetal monitoring for nurses new to OB
- Coordinating team member at every education program to promote AWHONN
4. Provide and support education to practitioners working in various health care settings
Supporting activities:
- Offer programs throughout the region, with attention to regional need and geographical distribution
- Expand target audience in community settings outside of the hospital, such as VNA RNs/staff, office and/or clinic-based RNs/staff
- NH Breastfeeding Task Force annual conference
5. Promote professional growth of individual nurse
Supporting activities:
- Coordinating team structure of planning and professionalism
- Awarding of two free AWHONN memberships a year
- Highlight accomplishments of RNs in NH communities
