Message from the Chair

Welcome AWHONN members and prospective members,

As we begin 2010, NH AWHONN section is experiencing a change in our Leadership team. Sara Kellogg Meade, Section Chair, and Ann Hebert, Secretary /Treasurer, have completed their leadership terms. The NH AWHONN coordinating team as well as the entire NH AWHONN section would like to thank both of these fantastic leaders. They have helped to bring new and exciting educational programs to the nurses in our area.  From the addition of the postpartum mood disorder conferences, to the joint NH AWHONN and NH ACOG conference this past fall, our section has been able to offer outstanding educational program at an affordable price under their leadership. As the newly elected Section Chair, I, along with Kyle Hotaling, Secretary/Treasurer appreciate their hard work and look forward to their continued involvement in our coordinating team.

The NH AWHONN team meets every other month to address issues that affect us as nurses and our patients, as well as to plan educational offerings.  Team members come from across the state and from a variety of backgrounds: staff nurses, managers, directors and educators.  Even with this wide representation, we are always interested in input from our members. Please send us your thoughts and ideas any time.  We can be reached individually at the Coordinating Team members or at Contact Us pages.

If you are not yet a member, we would like to invite you to join. AWHONN will help to keep you connected to others in your professional field as well as to our more than 240 New Hampshire members.  Among other benefits, you will receive two professional journals: Journal of Obstetric & Neonatal Nursing (JOGNN) and Nursing for Women’s Health. These publications provide up-to-date information on the topics that affect your nursing practice. For more information on joining AWHONN, contact Membership Coordinator Ann Hebert at Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH  603-491-6372 or annhebert31@yahoo.com

As the new NH AWHONN Chair, I would like to thank you for your dedication to the women and newborns of our state and beyond. I welcome you to become involved as we continue to build our professional organization and future leaders.

Sincerely,

Martha Leighton, MS, RNC-OB
